Jessy Van Durme
Molding Raw Emotion
into Form
Jessy Van Durme is a Belgian multidisciplinary designer whose work bridges interior architecture, art direction, and object design. Her creations are rooted in heritage and sustainability, often exploring the poetic potential of natural materials and understated forms.
Alongside her partner, photographer Piet Albert oethals, Jessy co-founded AKT magazine in 2019—a publication that serves as a kind tribute to contemporary creativity across design, art and culture. Together, they also established l’Officine, a collaborative retreat near Brussels that embodies their shared vision of tactile, thoughtful living.
Her approach to ceramics is both meditative and intuitive. Each piece is hand-built with a quiet reverence for imperfection, allowing the clay to dictate its final form rather than conforming to rigid expectations. Working slowly, she embraces irregularity, weight, and tactility—qualities that bring a profound stillness and humanity to her vessels.
The earthy surfaces, often left unglazed or subtly textured, invite touch and reflection, speaking softly of time, nature, and presence. Her ceramics are not merely functional; they are poetic objects—sculptural and grounded—crafted with a deep sensitivity to the rhythms of the natural world and the emotional resonance of form.
Our guests and visitors can now discover the ceramic work of Jessy Van Durme at Cá na serra as part of the exhibition Poetics of Material and Space, curated by Sanae Collective.
Poetics of Material and space runs until September 2026 and can be visited by appointment or by staying at Cá na Serra. The exhibition will exceptionally open to the public on 23rd May 2026, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the dialogue between maker, material and space.
